I was born in Mount Isa in 1976. Coming from a creative family, I was inspired
and drawn to art after seeing the beautiful artworks my immediate and extended
family were creating. I studied art throughout high school and experimented
with my creativity in my leisure time in the years that followed.
I moved to Kingaroy after the birth of my eldest daughter and become involved
in the South Burnett arts community, regularly entering competitions and
holding and organising exhibitions. In early 2010 I relocated to Margate in
South East Queensland. I remain a member of Kingaroy's new Jumping Ants Art
Group.
In 2006, I completed Painting and Drawing Modules from the Certificate II
and Certificate IV in Arts and Contemporary Crafts at TAFE.
Acrylic paints are my medium of choice, but I also enjoy photography and
I've experimented with oils and soft pastels, graphite, ink, gouache, oil
paint, mixed media and sculpting hebel. I love painting and using vibrant
colour in a contemporary, uplifting style. I'm always on the lookout for
poetry in the ordinary and I have a genuine attachment to each work. My work
is highly stylised and it's inspired by masters and modern artists.
My work has graced the walls of the Martin Galleries at Nundah Village in
Brisbane; Framing Corner at Toowong in Brisbane; BIEDO in Goomeri; the Kingaroy
Shire Art Gallery; The Lunchbox in Goomeri; the Wondai Shire Art Gallery;
1st Stop Café in Clontarf; La Plaz in Brisbane; Virgil's Touchwood
Artistans Village in Nanango; The Folley in Nanango; The Artist's Cottage
in Kingaroy; Otto Professional Group in Kingaroy; Gallery 4608 in Wooroolin;
Utopia Café and Framed with Style in Kingaroy; All About You Florist
and Gifts in Murgon; the South Burnett Media Centre and the Kingaroy Town
Hall. I've also completed many private commissions.
My artwork has also been published in the internationally distributed Artists
Palette Magazine (No. 61 April 2008) and the nationally distributed Honestly
Woman Magazine (January 2008 Issue). Artists Palette Magazine described me
as "a prolific and adventurous painter with her very own definitive style".
South Burnett Publications such as the South Burnett Touring Guide, the Kingaroy
Mail and the South Burnett Times have also featured stories and/or photographs
of my work.
