I trained Bec a few years ago prior to her wedding. Since that time she’s been quite a busy bee! She now lives with her husband and has two step children and three more little ones under the age four years old!
Bec came to me when her youngest daughter was just 10 weeks old, half way through term one of the challenge. It was important for us to commence in very gentle step by step manner, to get her body ready for training.
From there, Bec has come so far! In Term 2, even with the demands of a 3 children under 4 years old and a house move taking her out of action for a week, she managed to come out on top.
Bec is a quiet and consistent achiever. She is a true inspiration for other mothers with babies and small children. With the right mindset and support, anything is possible.
Bec kindly answered my questions about her experience.
Q: Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
Bec: I’m a 28 year old mum of 3 children under 4. I live in Redcliffe with my husband and his two children which gives us a sum total of 5 kids under one roof. I have just started back at work part-time as an auditor in the city.
Q. What do you do for fun?
Bec: I enjoy time alone ;). When I do manage to get some time to myself, I enjoy scrapbooking. In reality though, I don’t often get any time for that.
I enjoy taking the kids for a bike ride along the waterfront or taking them to a park to drink coffee and watch them play.
Oh, and shopping! I love shopping! Much to my husband’s disgust. I go for anything from clothing to homewares.
Q. What is your number 1 health/fitness goal?
Bec: To get lean! I was lean once even though back then I thought I was fat. I would give anything to be that ‘fat’ again!
Q. How do you see yourself in 12 months time?
Bec: Hopefully 20kgs lighter and at my goal weight! I’d also like to see us doing more active outings as a family as I gain more energy.
Q. How much weight did you lose training with Rischelle in the challenge?
Lost 7.4kgs (and 30.8cm), in 10 weeks.
Q. What do you feel are your biggest achievements during your time training with Rischelle?
Definitely finding myself again. I’m learning to put myself first and that sometimes that is not a bad thing to do.
Q. What motivates you?
Bec: Being accountable to someone I think. Someone who is able to make me admit/own up to my bad choices. Also, I can’t stand it when I disappoint people so I guess someone who gets disappointed when I don’t perform.
Q. What do you want more than anything when it comes to your health and fitness?
Bec: I want to be happy with myself. Whatever weight that is, I just want to be happy with what I see in the mirror.
Q. What would it feel like to have this challenge handled?
Bec: One step closer to my goal. I would feel amazing to have done another 10 weeks and prove to myself that I can do it again and again.
Q. What have you always wished that someone would come up with that you’d be thrilled to buy in relation to your health and fitness?
Bec: Honestly, your packages are amazing! Materially though, I’d love to buy some kind of robot or something to follow me around telling me to not eat that or to get off my backside and do some exercise.
Q. What is your favourite type of training?
Definitely bootcamps with a variety of cardio and weights. It helps break up the cardio. I also like to challenge myself to keep up with others who are fitter and faster than me and I like that I can ‘fly under the radar’.

Q. What did you enjoy about training with Rischelle and being a part of the challenge?
Bec: There’s so many things! The mindset coaching has opened up a whole new world for me; not only from a health and fitness level but also a mental and emotional health level.
The group support that the challenge offers is fantastic and has certainly helped motivate me. Everyone is either in the same position as you or have been there themselves.

Q. How have your friends and family reacted to your weight loss?
I think the kids are liking their mum being more willing to go play with them. There haven’t really been many ‘reactions’ as such yet but they’ve been really supportive by babysitting the kids for me so that I am able to make bootcamp sessions.
Q. What’s your advice to other people feeling stuck, needing change and wanting to lose weight/increase their fitness?
Just take the plunge. Nothing will ever change unless you make it. You’ll be surprised what you can make happen and fit into a day/week if you prioritise it.
Q. Would you recommend training with Rischelle to others and why?
Absolutely! Rischelle has this way of being able to relate to you. She’s really fantastic at motivating you when needed and provides support over and above that of any other PT I’ve trained with. She will boost you up when you are down but also kick you into gear if you need it.
Bec truly deserved this win. She worked hard consistently and even with all the normal obstacles of having young children, she really came through with the goods week after week.
She never complained. She never made excuses. She had integrity with her goal and she’s in it for the long haul. Already having started Term 3 of the challenge, she’s well on her way to achieving her long term goals.
